This is a scarce copy of an early temperance publication. As described below, it is a worn but usable copy. Each of the 2 volumes (bound as one) runs to just under 400 pages and includes writings, poems, and testimonials on temperance from various authors. There are numerous engraved portraits including Neal Dow and many others. Early brown half-leather binding with marbled boards. Heavy wear to edges, corners. Spine dry and discolored, gold stamping still barely visible. Spine ends worn/chipped. Boards still well attached and text block intact. Interior pages show various amounts of foxing/staining, some pages clean and white and some quite brown and foxed, but all very readable. Previous owner's name on flyleaf with 1854 date. A good working/reading copy. Ask about our bindery services if you'd like this fixed prior to shipping it to you. Book is over-sized and additional postage needed to ship outside the United States. ; 8vo; RB history
