An odd item. No title page or copyright, just 283 pages of narrow typeset columns of text. Apparently a detailed record of all the Duke's manuscripts in the order of the manuscript's date. Starting with a description of "Two small slips of paper pinned together....a petition... That the Pope's collector be commanded to avoid the realm with 40 days, or else be take as the King's enemy...." from the Reign of Richard II, 1389-1390, through up to the last entry from 1801, a letter. 1335 items listed in all. Fascinating reading consider the time frame. Lots of manuscripts listed that deal with the American colonies. Bound in 3/4 leather with cloth boards, top and bottom of spine pieces missing but binding solid and interior pages all fine and bright.
